The mechanism on this office chair has a few different features, including;

• Seat Height Adjustment - This allows you to adjust the seat height.
• Synchro-Tilt Mechanism - This allows the chair to be locked in the upright position. However, when unlocked, the chair will recline backwards. The Synchro Tilt allows the chair to be locked in a reclined position. To release this, unlock the chair, lean back slightly (to release the spring), and the chair will go back upright. 
• Tension Control - This works in sync with the Synchro Tilt Mechanism. If you'd like the recline to be softer. Tighten the tension control clockwise.
